Product Overview

Lightweight Insulating Mortar for Thermal Bridge-Free Walls

INSUMORTAR is a specially formulated lightweight insulating bedding mortar designed as a companion product to INSUBLOCK. By using INSUMORTAR at every block joint, you close the last remaining heat path through the wall — eliminating thermal bridges that would otherwise compromise the insulation performance of the block itself.

Made from lightweight aggregate, Portland cement and insulating additives, INSUMORTAR delivers a thermal conductivity matched to INSUBLOCK, ensuring a fully continuous insulation layer with no cold spots. It is easy to mix, apply and tool — behaving like standard masonry mortar while providing far superior thermal performance.

Recommended for: All INSUBLOCK walling systems — residential villas, apartment buildings, hotels, commercial and industrial structures in Oman.

Why Choose INSUMORTAR

Key Benefits

Eliminates Thermal Bridges

Traditional cement mortars create cold bridges at every joint. INSUMORTAR's low thermal conductivity matches INSUBLOCK, maintaining a continuous insulation layer throughout the wall.

Lightweight Formulation

At 600–800 kg/m³, INSUMORTAR is significantly lighter than standard mortar, reducing the overall dead load on structures and foundations.

Moisture Resistant

Formulated to resist moisture ingress, protecting wall joints from dampness and preventing mould growth within the wall construction.

Designed for INSUBLOCK

The workability, open time and bedding thickness are optimised specifically for INSUBLOCK masonry, ensuring perfect bond and consistent joint quality.

Fast & Easy to Apply

Mixes readily with water and is applied just like conventional mortar — no special tools or training needed, reducing labour time on site.

Product Characteristics

Engineered to complement INSUBLOCK in Oman's climate.

Frequently Asked Questions

INSUMORTAR is a lightweight insulating bedding mortar used to lay INSUBLOCK masonry. It bridges the thermal performance gap at block joints, eliminating cold bridges that would otherwise compromise overall wall insulation.
You can, but standard cement mortar has a thermal conductivity of around 0.7–1.0 W/mK — approximately 7× higher than INSUBLOCK. This creates significant thermal bridges at every joint. INSUMORTAR is the recommended bedding mortar to maintain thermal continuity.
The recommended joint thickness is 10–15 mm. This provides adequate structural bonding while keeping the thermal bridge path as thin as possible.
Yes. INSUMORTAR is formulated for both interior and exterior masonry applications. For exposed external walls, apply a suitable renders or cladding system over the completed brickwork as normal.
